The ride starts in Gaiole in Chianti, a quiet and very beautiful wine village, as well as home to the world famous vintage bike race called L’ Eroica.
We bike south towards Siena on the Chiantigiana road, then continue on a breathtaking, gradual climb through the vineyards on paved roads to centre city Radda in Chianti. Here you will have time to enjoy an espresso with the locals, get some amazing photos of the countryside all around (360 degrees) and linger in its medieval streets, soaking in the ambiance.
Afterwards, your biking adventure continues in the direction of Vagliagli (literally the valley of garlic, due to spontaneous wild garlic growing there) on a very scenic strada bianca, literally white road, which here in Tuscany refers to gorgeous backroads, with almost no traffic whatsoever passing through the most beautiful landscapes, filled with vineyards, fortified villages, castles, olive groves and lovely villas.
There is time for an optional stop for lunch in Radda, Vagliagli or San Sano (not included in the tour price) at the local restaurants, bars, and/or trattoria.
Later on, we continue on our two -wheeled adventure on some of the most scenic white roads in Tuscany, passing near Pievasciata, San Sano and eventually through Lecchi in Chianti.
Our efforts are rewarded by a wine tasting at a local, top wine estate on the return route or if you prefer a local micro brew or glass of wine in the main square of Gaiole upon your return.
